Crest Canvas Print

Oil on canvas. 20 inches x 30 inches x 1 inch. Not framed. No frame needed as all my oil works are painted around the edge. Signed on the side edge and reverse.

My current work is painted directly onto the canvas without any preliminary drawing. The works are created entirely in oil paint without the need to fill in color between the lines of a drawing. My aim is to create an interesting surface with a contrast between smooth backgrounds and impasto

About the paintings.. Like a bird on a wire... I have tried in my way to be free. My work is imagined rather than observed. It is expressive and colourful. I create new images that speak with the past but are not recreations. It is painting rather than "Art" that interests me. it's all about the painting process, applying colour, using texture, making marks. the intereting surface. The painting develops over time. They may seem finished at one point but then later are reworked. The work you see may have been several other paintings during it's lifetime. My enduring influences are many but include mostly Turner, Rembrandt and Rothko.
