Also...I painted these in 2002 not long after 9/11 and was not deliberately trying to depict anything other than what\\\'s in the theme of the series...The stripes remind me now of the twin towers and skyscrapers in general...this sheet of images is different...?
About the paintings.. Like a bird on a wire... I have tried in my way to be free. My work is imagined rather than observed. It is expressive and colourful. I create new images that speak with the past but are not recreations. It is painting rather than "Art" that interests me. it's all about the painting process, applying colour, using texture, making marks. the intereting surface. The painting develops over time. They may seem finished at one point but then later are reworked. The work you see may have been several other paintings during it's lifetime. My enduring influences are many but include mostly Turner, Rembrandt and Rothko.
