Our spiral notebooks are 6" x 8" in size and include 120 pages which are lined on both sides. The artwork is printed on the front cover which is made of thick paper stock, and the back cover is medium gray in color. The inside of the back cover includes a pocket for storing extra paper and pens.

Fishing has been one of Suffolk's most important industries for at least 900 years. So good were the catches that there was a tithe levied on fish to be paid to the local parish or the Bishop. In 1042, Bishop Alfric awarded the Manor of Southwold to the Monks of Bury St Edmunds. Southwold was obliged to pay the monks an annual 'tribute' of 20,000 herrings.
Herring was the most popular catch in the waters close to the Suffolk coast with fishing fleets venturing out from quays at Orford, Slaughden, Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Dunwich, Walberswick, Southwold, Kessingland and Lowestoft.
Dunwich was, in the 16th century, Suffolk's chief fishing port, with 166 mariners and a ship of over 100 tons, the larger vessels being sent to Iceland for catches of cod and ling.

About the paintings.. Like a bird on a wire... I have tried in my way to be free. My work is imagined rather than observed. It is expressive and colourful. I create new images that speak with the past but are not recreations. It is painting rather than "Art" that interests me. it's all about the painting process, applying colour, using texture, making marks. the intereting surface. The painting develops over time. They may seem finished at one point but then later are reworked. The work you see may have been several other paintings during it's lifetime. My enduring influences are many but include mostly Turner, Rembrandt and Rothko.
